Happy Endings Not Included

True Tales from Both Sides of the Massage Table

AL LONDON

Ever had a massage go hilariously, horribly wrong?

You're not the only one. Twenty-four true stories, told by therapists and clients, from London to Bali to a yacht rolling through the Mediterranean. Most will make you laugh, a few will make you cringe, and the last couple might get you a little teary.

Keep it in the bathroom, on the coffee table, or hand it to anyone who's ever lain face down and wondered what on earth was going on.

The Manager Will See You Now

About ten minutes in, my client cleared his throat and asked if I offered a happy ending. I didn't even slow down. "Would you like to ask my boss? She's from the Czech Republic and she's very direct. I can go get her." There was a long silence. "No, no. That's fine."

Therapist's Rating: 5/5 managers. Best bouncer I never had to call.

About Al London

Al London has spent more than twenty years working on tired shoulders around the world, as a sports and healing massage therapist, a spa manager, and a freelance therapist on private superyachts in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

She's spent just as long on the other side of the table. From really bougie spas to quick foot massages, she's booked them all, which is how she ended up with half the stories in this book. These days she's a little pickier about where she lies down.

She lives with her partner, two kids, and two dogs: Frankie, who loves massages, and Doug, who loves to interrupt them. The pen name comes from her favorite massage story, which happened in a little herb shop in London.
